Mayar and Driesh

Plateau north of Mayar: Tulchan of Glenisla. No stalking issues2. Approach via Fee Burn/Corrie Fee NNR: Managed by NatureScot, deer stalking carried out by FLS on behalf of NatureScot. Stag stalking all year round. Hind stalking from 1 Sept to 31 March. Weekend stalking not common, keeping to formal paths is always okay. Tolmount and Tom Buidhe

Land in Glen Doll/Glen Clova catchment to east of Tolmount and north of Tom Buidhe: Bachnagairn (Balmoral). Stag stalking 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27 Sept and from 2 to 20 Oct Monday to Saturday. The Den of Altduthrie (southwest of Bachnagairn) is regularly used for stalking, but the higher and more pleasant route to and from the plateau via the Glittering Skellies is always OK.

Creag nan Gabhar

Cairn Bannoch and Broad Cairn

North of ridge: Balmoral. South of ridge: Bachnagairn (Balmoral). Both areas - stag stalking 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27 Sept and from 2 to 20 Oct Monday to Saturday. Hind stalking 23 Oct to 22 Dec Monday to Friday. No stalking on Sundays. Recorded phone message: 01339 755532. The circuit of the five Munros above Loch Muick is always OK as long as you don’t come down early, either across the White Mounth or into the Dubh Loch area. Carn an t-Sagairt Mor, Carn a’Choire Bhoidheach and Lochnagar

Balmoral. Stag stalking 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27 Sept and from 2 to 20 Oct Monday to Saturday. Hind stalking 23 Oct to 22 Dec Monday to Friday. No stalking on Sundays. Recorded phone message: 01339 755532. Access to Lochnagar by the main path from Glen Muick or the Glas Allt path from Glas-allt-Shiel is always OK. The circuit of the five Munros above Loch Muick is also always OK, as long as you don’t come down early either across the White Mounth or into the Dubh Loch area. The path to Lochnagar from the north through the Ballochbuie is also always OK -when stalking is taking place in this area walkers are asked to keep to the paths as the area around Sandy Lochan and Coire Lochan nan Eun is very important for stalking.

When stalking is taking place, it would be helpful if walkers could avoid using the Garbh Coire path (NO394917 to NO407900).
